KIDS FOR THE CULTURE

 

Through Black-led discussions, activities and local outings we aim to cultivate future leaders who center Black wellness and perspective.

Our mission is to create community and spaces that champion Black culture, consciousness and empowerment of middle school and early high school-aged people.

Students who participate in our program will be given a foundation to explore the narrative around the Black experience in the United States. We aim to develop our students in all facets of life, feeling secure, capable, loved, and empowered in their identity.

Are you….

  • Open-minded and willing to learn and challenge yourself?

  • Able to dedicated Saturdays in September and November to our Cultural Conversation meetings?

Special Instructions
Applications are now being accepted for new Interns who are able to start work from Mid September until December 11th. Priority will be given to those who identify as African American and/or Black.

Basic Responsibilities
1. Act as a representative of Kids For the Culture and the Cultural Conversations programming
2. Participate in creating conversation topics and content for Saturday programming
3. Serve as a co-host and facilitator for the Cultural Conversations program
4. Help with other related events during the course of the internship including but not limited to: Dia de los Muertos Event, Day of Mourning Potluck, End of the Year Christmas/ Kwanzaa
5. Work on outreach and expanding our membership
6. Attend working meetings as scheduled
7. Other duties as assigned by the program directors

Time Commitment
2 hrs. on Saturdays not including meetings and special events

Compensation
$500 Stipend for term

Due to the rise of the Delta Variant we are restructuring how our Kick-Off Event in September will be ran. More information to come!

For the Fall Semester of 2021 we are looking to work with middle school aged students to cultivate Black community, education and self understanding. Registration and details will be out by September!

This summer we were able to offer free BIPOC Lead activities in the Eugene/Springfield Area! Although we no long have any offerings we are looking forward to a continuation of FREE Activities.

Activity examples are: Horseback riding, Rock Climbing, Kayaking and Paddle boarding. Be on the look out for a calendar of Fall Activities!
